A Simple Gut-Healthy Day

So now that you know everything you need to know about the gut, it is time to put it all into play. This is often the hardest part, right? Well, it doesn’t have to be!

  

When making changes, it is best to keep it simple. I can hear my grandfather saying to me now, “Life is simple, Hannah. It’s not always easy, but it’s simple.” I think in many ways, he is right. In moments of overwhelm, I try to go back to this thought process.

 

Whether you are changing your dietary habits, embarking on a new journey, or renewing your health, making these changes can all seem like huge feats. They take new knowledge, work, and conscious attention. In the beginning, it can seem like another job. I have been there. So how can we bring ease and grace into the situation?

  

Here is my idea for doing just that. It is an easy-to-follow daily guide for one gut-healthy day. Add your own flavor to it, and make it your own. If you are very active, add additional nourishment where needed.

  

Wake Up

Enjoy a big glass of water. Add a dash of organic apple cider vinegar or juice from ½ a lemon for added benefits.

  

Breakfast

A smoothie with berries, avocado, spinach, chia seeds, almond/coconut milk, water, and ice. Check out my ultimate smoothie recipe for all-day clarity, energy, and vitality here.

  

Lunch

A salad of organic field greens with organic chicken, your favorite vegetables, and avocado with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing.

  

Afternoon Snack

My go-to overnight chia seed pudding - recipe below!

  

Dinner

Rosemary salmon with sautéed vegetables in coconut oil and sweet potatoes with cinnamon and tahini.

Dessert

Roasted dandelion root tea with a splash of unsweetened almond milk.

Recipe | Overnight Chia Pudding

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbs chia seeds
  • 1/2 c unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened raw cacao or cocoa powder
  • 1/4 Tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Organic stevia to taste - I like 1-2 drops!

Directions

Combine all of the ingredients in a mason jar. Shake it up and place in the fridge for the night. So easy!
