Get to Know Pilates Instructor Nikki Beck
YogaToday Pilates Instructor Nikki Beck started her Pilates and Aerials journey in 2009 after dislocating her shoulder serving Lindsey Lohan tacos one night (true story!) After surgery, she tried multiple modalities to regain strength, stability, and flexibility, but nothing resonated with her body quite like Pilates did.
Nikki has been a multi-sport athlete since childhood, and she grew up in the world of competitive gymnastics, which laid the foundation to quickly fall in love with both pilates and aerials. She has made these passions into her career as a full time Pilates Instructor, and when she's not on her mat, you can find her snowboarding, rock climbing, and hangin' with her golden retriever.
Nikki began teaching Pilates in 2010 in Washington State. There she completed the BASI 500-Hour Pilates Comprehensive Certification, BASI Injuries and Pathologies Certification, and trained in aerial silks under a Cirque du Soleil trainer. In 2012, she moved to Ballito, South Africa to teach and study under BASI Master Trainer Tash Barnard, which set her teaching foundations within the rehabilitative community. In 2014, Nikki traveled to Bhagsu, India to study under Guru Mukh and the 14th Dalai Lama while completing her Yoga RYT 200. After this enriching experience, Nikki moved to Florida where she taught Pilates full time, started an aerial program at two studios, and performed as a professional aerialist. Here she furthered her rehabilitation training and did a mentorship program at the Andrews Institute, a premier rehabilitation facility for professional athletes.
Nikki then moved to Denver, CO to pursue a life-long dream of attending the Art Institute and adding digital design to her creative toolbox. While in Denver she assisted in the creation of Whole Body Studio’s Pilates certification program and loves to assist instruct the course. Nikki finds teaching movement principles to future instructors an incredibly rewarding experience.
Today, you will find Nikki splitting her time between Jackson Hole, WY and living out of a duffel bag while teaching movement, designing websites, and taking photos. She loves being able to share her passion of movement with others through YogaToday while she continues to progress her education.
