Get to Know Dr. Giovannina Anthony

Devoted to Women's Health

We are thrilled to introduce Dr. Giovannina Anthony, a gynecologic and obstetric physician for over twenty years and a doctor in private practice in Jackson, Wyoming for the past ten. Before moving to the mountains, Dr. Anthony was a city girl born and raised in Los Angeles. She attended the University of Southern California where she earned her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering. The high-profile obstetric unit at USC inspired Dr. Anthony to pursue a medical degree and to devote her career to women’s health.

How She Found Yoga

Dr. Anthony started yoga to help alleviate stress during medical school and credits the practice for its emotional and mental benefits. Following medical school and her residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Anthony spent three years traveling through South America, Southeast Asia and India observing obstetrics. Her travels in third world countries ultimately shaped her personal views and professional goals. When she returned to the United States she continued her career as an attending physician at Beth Israel Hospital in New York. She met her husband at a wedding in Jackson where she eventually moved and started her private practice at Women’s Health and Family Care.

Stay tuned for her tips and words of wisdom on fertility, prenatal and postnatal yoga.

We have been pleased to have Dr. Anthony as an extra on Yoga Today and of course to consult her about prenatal yoga. Her wealth of medical knowledge and yoga experience make her an invaluable resource as to how this practice can help women before, during, and after pregnancy. We look forward to sharing more insight from Dr. Anthony on the Yoga Today blog.
