Fellow Yogis: I have hyperextension in my knees. Thus, standing forward bends are particularly challenging because I never know exactly how much to bend. Do any of you have this problem, or have heard of any modifiers? Any advice is welcome. Thanks. Take Care, Chelsea Flag as offensive

I was worried about that too and asked my yoga instructor about it a while back. She suggested trying and keeping my toes lifted when knees seem to be bending to help engage the back part of the leg, which seemed to help me. Flag as offensive

Something in Anusara your called "shins forward--thighs back" helps me. To feel this, go into a standing forward bend with a micro bend in the knee. Grab the back calves with your hands and pull the muscles forward and up (mening pull the calfs to the front and lift them up) while engaging the tops of the thighs back. You can also think about "dragging your feet forward" as if they were on roller skates. The shins need to come forward in any case. After feeling this for some time with the aid of your hands, some day, you wont need your hands anymore. hope this helps! Flag as offensive

Loved the class! It's a little different than the usual classes. It starts out with some pilates moves to get you tuned into your core-great idea. There was also a challenging (for me anyway) plank variation where you go from your hands to your forearms several times. My favorite was the single nostril breathing before corpse pose. But really, I loved the whole thing.

This class was a great opportunity, though, to try some new poses. First time for sundial for me - I can't wait untill I am able to reach that full pose! My hips do feel more open now but not as much as I had expected. As I progress, the hip opening will too, I know.

No joke with this one: core at the front, extended poses in the middle, and some balancing at the end. All poses are held for a few breaths to really allow stretching and opening, which is fabulous. A great range of motions, especially if you sit a lot and have tight groin/hip areas.

Another great class with Neesha. I was soooo open after this class. I have extremely tight hips so this was perfect for me. I also enjoyed the ongoing commentary about the masculine / feminine aspects of balance. Seemed to me to be a great intermediate yoga class. Some poses were difficult for me, others were just right. ;)

This class begins with core strengthening, moves through basic standing postures that culminate in Half Moon and Revolved Half Moon, and moves to the floor for seated forwards bends and hip openers that culminate in Sundial pose (shown in video still). Your hips with be open after this class.
